The most remote district of Portugal is also the least visited.
I think that I only have been there three times, all of them in a hurry, because home was too far. In the first time, in 1971, I was coming from Spain, visiting Bragança, with brief stops in Mirandela and Vila Flor. The second one, in the nineties, I repeated Bragança, and visited Romeu. In the third, after sleeping in Barca d'Alva, I followed Douro river, to have dinner in Freixo de Espada à Cinta in a forgotten restaurant. I'm planning a visit to the Cantabrian mountains for next spring, and that will be the fourth time. Maybe in rush, as usual... |
