The trip to Mexico was one of the best I ever had. After a week in the splendid beach of Cancun. we rented a car and traveled across Yucatan. The first stop was in Valladolid, a common city where the highlight as a cenote were we could have an underground swim.
Proceeding north, we took a boat near the mouth of Lagartos river, to see the wildlife, with evidence to the many flamingos.
Mérida was a quick overnight visit, including a small detour to Dzibilchaltun. Uxmal was the end of our plan, and the ruins justified the long trip. Returning to Cancun, we made the mandatory stop in Chichen-Itzá, and used the extra day with the car to visit Tulum and Xel-Ha.
During the previous week we had already used local transport to visit Isla Mujeres and Xcaret, and after two more days in the beach, we returned home, with a strong will to repeat the experience in a different area of Mexico.
